Das ist Riesling-Schmelz out of mainstream.

"The 2017er Gondorfer Gäns Alte Reben was fermented down to 13 g/l of residual sugar. This offers a magnificent nose of whipped cream, pear, grapefruit zest, elderflower, white pepper, herbs and fine spices. The wine is gorgeously playful on the zesty and delicately creamy palate and leaves a beautiful feel of whipped cream, white peach, grapefruit and floral elements in the long and deliciously tart finish. This is a superb dry-tasting Riesling in the making! 2022-2037. 93" Jean Fisch & David Rayer in Mosel Fine Wines

93 Punkte im Vinum Weinguide Deutschland 2019. "The 2017er Gondorfer Gäns Auslese was made from partially botrytized fruit harvested at 98° Oechsle. This bright-colored wine offers a surprisingly discreet nose of green apple, pear, yoghurt, white flowers, acacia honey and herbs, all wrapped into a fleeting touch of volatile acidity at this early stage. The wine is remarkably feather-light on the focused and delicately zesty palate and leaves a pure and clean feel of white peach, chalky minerals and some honey in the long but focused finish. This rather delicate expression of Auslese will need a few years to develop its aromatics and intensity. It could then easily exceed our expectations. 2027-2052. 92+" Jean Fisch & David Rayer in Mosel Fine Wines

Falstaff "The 2017 collection by Lubentiushof is again a huge success as it manages to harness the intensity and power of the vintage and turns it into elegance made Riesling. The wines from the Gäns are true highlights and the Gäns Alte Reben is probably the finest ever at this Estate and a strong candidate for off-dryRiesling highlight of the vintage. The Uhlen Alte Reben shows great presence and proves utterly enjoyable." Jean Fisch & David Rayer in Mosel Fine Wines
"When putting the question “how was the vintage?” to Andreas Barth, his reaction was one of amazement: “Never in my dreams would I have thought that such a hot and dry vintage, actually even hotter and drier than 2003, was to deliver such elegant and focused wines at my Estate. The critical aspect was for me the fact that the dry weather basically led the grapes to shut down their development during the summer, thereby protecting it from hydric stress, something which did not happen as much in 2003 and where consequently sugar levels shot through the roof. In addition, the September rain, which made us all nervous, proved a godsend gift as it allowed the grape to fill with juice and finish the ripeness. This explains why our harvest yielded grapes with moderate sugar levels: Around 80° Oechsle for our basic wines and no more than 95° Oechsle for our top ones. The wines are focused and full of potential.” Harvest started on October 12 and was completed in two weeks. The Estate produced its usual portfolio of dry wines which includes again a Gäns X (made from a tank which finished its fermentation to complete legally dry levels) and, for the first time, a Gäns S, made also from the best old-vine fruit in the Gäns but fermented in a newly acquired 600-liter oak cask from the Stockinger cooperage. The collection also includes a Spätlese from the Gäns. The “simpler” and the fruity-styled wines were bottled in May and the better dry wines in August. It also re-released tiny amounts of its 2003er Gondorfer Schlossberg commercially this year (we added the tasting at the bottom of our list). After a hugely successful 2014 vintage, Andreas Barth produced another great collection of wines in 2015 which is topped by two superb dry-tasting expressions of Riesling, the Koberner Uhlen Alte Reben and the Gäns Alte Reben. As Andreas mentioned, we are also positively surprised by the great elegance and freshness of these wines in the overall ripe 2015 vintage. The oak-aged Gäns S proves also highly successful and full of potential. All in all, Lubentiushof continues to produce amazingly elegant Riesling full of presence and finesse."
